Visiting some LinkedIn Profiles I easily see many “not-so-good” profile pictures. Such as:

– Photos of you with your mate cropped out of it

– A Wedding Photo

– Pictures taken in a nightclub (sometimes having an alcoholic beverage in hand)

– Snapshot with your pets and so on…

Definitely you can do better!
Plan your headshot in advance. You only have one chance to cause a good impression 🙂

These are not appropriate photos for you to show your professional skills. If you are a dog lover and/or you really like to show your hobbies in order to reinforce your personality, I recommend that you link your personal blog on your Linkedin profile. But please, use the only photo you can upload on the platform to show you and only you.

“Hafa, you mean I have to borrow a fancy suit from my cousin and take a picture in a white backdrop?”

NO!

It’s very easy to take a headshot that is not right for you. This happens typically because people are under budget or because of the lack of reference on how a good business portrait should look like.

So, how does a Great Business Portrait look like?

First, I believe we should stop using the word “Headshot” for this kind of photo. It’s more about taking a picture that represents your personality rather than just a shot of your face.

The photographer will have a few important tasks in order to capture the ideal picture. First and foremost  I will get to know your personality and style. Give the client suggestions on wardrobe, hair, and makeup. Get some relaxed shots of the client in a comfortable and familiar environment in order to find the best angle that will make them confident in front of the camera. When you are at ease, the picture will look natural and show your true essence and this is the best outcome we can get.

I can help you to get the perfect headshot!

Crossed arms photos and cheesy smiles are outdated. Let’s create a business portrait for you that is clean, timeless, relevant, and the most important: a picture that you see your real you in it.

Be yourself and focus on what you want to communicate. That’s the thing.

Technically, a great headshot is taken from the chest-up with good lighting on your face, with a neutral – not necessarily black or white – background. The pose, angle and facial expression will depend on what impression you want to make but regardless of that, don’t underestimate the power of a good and candid smile.
